Oregon has become one of our favorite states to visit, second only to Colorado. Our friends Candy and Conrad introduced us to the state in 2005 when we traveled to Oregon for the Thanksgiving wine tasting events around the Willamette valley. We had tried Oregon Pinot Noir in the past and had loved it so this trip was a must. While there, we stayed in Portland a couple nights and traveled to Canon Beach where we spent a couple nights also. It was so much fun, we were committed to return.

We returned in 2007 when we stayed in Portland and explored the city and all it has to offer. Wow, what a city.

We traveled back to Oregon in August of 2014 to watch our friends run in a marathon. On this trip we spent more time in Portland where Sheena met-up with an internet friend for the first time and then it was off to the Willamette valley to watch the race, meet up with some of our favorite wine makers and oh, we also drank wine.

Portland

The Portland skyline.   .  Portland is another great beer city just like Denver.   .   .
  .   .   .   .   .
.   We left a bit of our hearts in Oregon - but not this lock. Just like in Paris, Portland has a bridge that is used by lovers to seal their love with a pad lock and the key thrown into the river.   .   .   .
Voodoo doughnut shop is a world famous "must visit" when in Portland.  An old theater billboard in downtown Portland.  Love the sign.  Speechless. The sign says it all... I think....  Gotta assume this restaurant has crab kegs..

Candy, Conrad and Eddie at a tasting room Thanksgiving weekend 2005.   The Witness Tree winery vineyard..   .   .   The J.K. Carriere vineyards.
.  The pinot noir grapes are about ready to start there journey to become J.K. Carriere wine. Can't wait.   Eddie at the Carlton wine makers studio where Andrew Rich makes his wines from both Washington and Oregon grapes..  Another nice wine tasting room. The whites were good but the reds... not so much. However, the facility and grounds were beautiful.   We're always excited to stop at Torii Mor winery to taste and order more wine..
